Want to be a Ghostbuster? No problem: The Ghostbusters VR Academy has opened. In the US and elsewhere.
Hologate operates one of the largest VR arcade networks in the world, with more than 450 turnkey VR systems in locations across 42 countries.
Ghostbusters VR Academy was developed by Hologate, and published by Sony Pictures Virtual Reality. The Ghostbusters experience comes in two distinct games across two Hologate platforms: Hologate Arena and Hologate Blitz, an advanced motion simulator.
In the Hologate Arena game, academy members in training strap on their proton packs and work together as a team in high-risk ghost encounter scenarios. They learn how to trap or blow ghosts to smithereens, all under the safeguard of academy grounds.
In the Hologate Blitz game, trainees will take the wheel in the prototype ECTO hovercraft, a vehicle exclusive to the academy. Players compete to see who is the fastest, most skillful driver in a high-speed race.
Meet Slimer and the Marshmallow Man
A trailer shows what visitors can expect in the two VR experiences. You’ll meet and fight familiar creatures like Slimer and the Marshmallow Man.
“Ghostbusters VR Academy takes full advantage of HOLOGATE’s location-based entertainment technology to immerse players in the Ghostbusters universe with friends and family, it’s an absolute thrill for Ghostbusters fans old and new,” said Jake Zim, Senior Vice President, Virtual Reality at Sony PicturesEntertainment.

Those who prefer to experience Ghostbusters at home will soon be able to do so as well. Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord is a co-op game in development for Meta Quest 2 and Playstation VR 2 later this year. Please note that this is a completely different VR game.
