Sony is previewing PSVR 2 games next week – with a diverse lineup of “top studios” and indies.

After a strong launch of the Playstation VR 2 and a subsequent lull, Sony wants to reignite the enthusiasm for its new VR headset. So next Wednesday, May 24there will be a new Playstation Showcase for games on Playstation 5 and Playstation VR 2.

The show will start at 1pm Pacific Time / 9pm British Time and will last just over an hour. The presentation will focus on PS5 and PSVR 2 games “from top studios from around the world,” according to the Playstation blog. In addition to “new creations” from Playstation Studios, PS5 and VR games from Sony’s third-party partners and independent developers will also be showcased.

Big VR games for PSVR 2?

With Sony talking about “a wealth of new games and new IPs“, we can expect some new announcements.

No further details have been announced. Titles from top studios could include already known upcoming PSVR 2 highlights like the tactical shooter Firewall Ultra with its advanced eye tracking mechanics.

Or even the very respectable remake of Resident Evil 4, which has already been released for Playstation 5. Capcom has started working on a free “VR mode” für Resident Evil 4 on Playstation VR 2, no word yet on when it will be released or if it will be a VR port of the full PS5 game.

In Sony’s last big stream, “State of Play” in February 2023, there were PSVR 2 announcements for The Foglands, Synapse, and Journey to Foundation. In addition, Before Your Eyes, Green Hell VR and Humanity were presented in more detail.

Sony thus gets ahead of Meta. On Thursday, June 1, 2023, Quest 2’s creators are holding their Meta Quest Gaming Showcase 2023.

The Playstation Showcase will be broadcast next Wednesday, May 24, on Youtube and Twitch.
